| DMD in Nepal |
 |
Preface |
|
| |
The Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal is a unique natural and cultural
destination in the South Asian Map of the World. It is one of the
least developed countries having the average ratio of 1 Doctor for
10,000 patients for health care within 24-million population in total.
The available data on the number of DMD patients shows the same
proportion 1: 3500 in Nepal. However, the secondary survey, data
collection and diagnostic research are still to be done more for
the factual report of the disease and patients in Nepal. |
 |
PPMD is proud to take the
credibility for these actions in Nepal : |
|
| |
PPMD, Parent project in Nepal is a pioneer organisation
in Nepal established in 2002 by the common effort of some of the DMD/BMD
parents (relatives) of the patients, with following objectives.
- To establish a central platform for the exchange of information
and awareness about the disease among the patients and their relatives
or family members.
- To establish physiotherapy and rehabilitation center (first
of its kind in Nepal) to provide primary health care facilities
(ex. physiotherapy, medicines and support equipment's)
- To raise necessary fund to meet its above expenses by donation,
membership and various activities in local, national and international
level In and Out of Nepal.
- Act as a link point between the volunteers and the center to
provide their allocation to render the service to the patients
in different parts in Nepal.
